Southwestern landscape painting of a group of horses with a foal beside a stream. Likely set in a Colorado or New Mexico landscape with hills in the background. Vintage circa 1930s original painting by artist Lloyd Moylan. Watercolor and gouache on paper. Signed by the artist, lower right. Presented in a custom hand-carved gold leaf frame with an archival mat.

Artist Biography - Lloyd Moylan (1893-1963)

A native of Minnesota, Moylan studied at the Minneapolis Art Institute, Art Students League, and Broadmoor Art Academy, 1920-22 (scholarship). Taught: Broadmoor Art Academy, 1921 (Industrial Arts), 1929-31. Professional Member of the BAA 1920s (vice president, 1923). Curator at the Museum of Navajo Ceremonial Art, Santa Fe, NM. Murals in Cheyenne School and Ute Theater, Colorado Springs and in courtroom, Portales, New Mexico. Exhibitions: Art Institute of Chicago, 1923; Broadmoor Art Academy, 1923 (concours prize winner); University of Colorado Museum, 1937. Work in Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe; Penrose Public Library, Colorado Springs and private collections in Colorado Springs and New Mexico.
