Artist Biography - Arthur Hall (1889-1981)
A native of Texas, Arthur William Hall grew up in Virginia and Oklahoma. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute where he met fellow artist, Norma Bassett. Following service in WWI, Hall settled in El Dorado, Kansas where he worked as a court stenographer, he married Norma Bassett Hall in 1922. With the exception of two years spent in Europe during the 1920s, the couple remained in Kansas and became charter members of the Prairie Print Makers in 1930.
The Halls moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1944 and, in 1950, they established an art school and studio named Rancho del Rio, located between Taos and Santa Fe.
