Collection: Los Cinco Pintores (the five painters)
Los Cinco Pintores (The Five Painters). A collective of New Mexico modernist artists established in Santa Fe in 1921. Group members: Fremont Ellis, Walter Mruk, Jozef Bakos, Willard Nash and Will Shuster. The collective goal was to "take art to the people" and the group held exhibited in schools, factories and hospitals. They also had a midwestern touring exhibit and a show in Los Angeles before disbanding in 1926
